MyHalifaxCa – Panhandlers

Its time to deal with the problem

Ironically the day that I finished drafting the conclusions to this opinion piece I met Terry M. on Barrington Street. I had not seen my little friend for several months and I was disturbed by his appearance. He’s shrinking, his health is deterating, he has become feeble and god … the smell. After a stretch of living in a flop house on Mitchell Street, he’s been reduced to staying at Turning Point…. AGAIN!!!

The likelihood of my little friend surviving another winter with another fight with phenomena is not high. I can only hope that when the snow clears next spring, Terry M is still alive and not found frozen in a snow bank.

I came away from our chat knowing that it might very well have been one of the last times I see him alive and more committed to being part of the solution… whatever that may be.
